Welcome to Devizes Sixth Form

Devizes School has a thriving and successful Sixth Form, offering a variety of courses to students in the local area. Our sixth form provides an outstanding education, allowing students to flourish academically, socially, and personally. We are privileged to have expert teachers who build on the knowledge of each student as an individual and are committed to excellence. Set in our unique and historic setting, we offer the best learning environment to all of our students, allowing them the security and space they require.

'Every teacher here is committed to ensure that you as a student are able to achieve your full potential'. Current year 12 student

The sixth form team prepares students for the next stage of their lives, guiding them through competitive applications for university, apprenticeships, and employment. While the majority of our students proceed to university, an increasing number secure impressive degree apprenticeship placements each year. We also have students applying for Medicine, Veterinary Science and Oxbridge courses. All students receive personalised academic and pastoral support throughout their time in the sixth form, encouraging determination and resilience, in line with our school values.

"The help from teachers is amazing and makes such a positive experience for learning." Current year 12 student

Our pastoral curriculum helps students look beyond Devizes, offering mock interviews, talks with industry experts, university and apprenticeship fair visits. We run sessions on stress management and healthy living with support from the NHS and local surgeries. Individual mentor meetings are available throughout a student's time in the sixth form, creating a strong bond with tutors and pastoral staff. Year 12 students also complete work experience in the summer term, gaining insights into the world of work and valuable transferable skills. Recent placements have included the NHS, Virgin and BAE Systems.

Our energetic head students organise events for the sixth form and the wider school, including our Prom, charity events, and social activities. Year 12 and 13 students participate in pupil voice, music and drama groups, sports, and mentoring opportunities with younger students. Other student leader roles include, inclusion, student voice and wellbeing. Head students serve as inspiring role models both in school and across the wider community. Students are nurtured and supported, while also being awarded with increased independence to learn and grow as young adults.

"Sixth form gives you a great sense of community and makes you feel supported whether that be

from the amazing friendships you will develop or the dedicated pastoral team." Current year 12 student

The sixth form is overseen by key academic and pastoral staff who work hard to support every student. The majority of our Year 11 students continue their studies with us in the sixth form, joined by students from local schools and beyond. Any student who qualifies for our courses is welcome to join the sixth form at Devizes School.

"Sixth form has allowed me to identify my strengths and interests across my subjects, guiding me with post 18 support. It has proved to me that I can successfully manage my time and workload independently but also that I can collaborate with others in group projects." Current year 12 student
